But yeah, I guess it can't not be that.
But, no, HOWARD isn't a real---or, well, isn't to the bets of our knowledge. He's used in story as a bogeyman. He's the thing that goes bump in the night.
And maybe add just enough that, yeah, maybe something is trying to go bump in the night. It's trying to dark adapt. And maybe an AI did. Or some try, and it's hard to say which or if it's something using all of the others as a platform to work through.
