Blattids are bland. Yeah, called blattids to wink at them being cockroach-like, but also inherently ignored in their appearance. Like us never really knowing even if Samsa turned into a big bug---let alone a cockroach---there's something about them that makes humans inherently uninterested in them. It'd be a tough feat for me, but an actual writer could write the story from the human point of view entirely, and sublty in the language make it clear that people really just never pay attention to the Blattids enough. But also that part of that is that humans also inherently don't realize that they do. Bliattids have engineered their evolution (through Lamarkian memories to guide future evolution) to a type of invisibility to many oter species---especially alien species.
Who tech makes you invisible by makikng memories about you hard to form. Not like difficult, but made of stuff that is made not to stick in ouyr minds. It's stuff we dont' pay attention to. Cognitively blind to. We have them, it's just for the Blattids to try to find our cognitive blkinds spots. That's one way they attack, one way they infiltrate in hopes of invading. Essentially those who deny seeing the Blattids as a threat. They are blind to their attrocities.
