The Remainders
I'm thinking Gratuitous Sapce Battles might have had it right. Chunky blue vessels that pantomime Star Trek. But I don't know. I do like everything about the remainders being poorly thought out and poorly described or explained, but that doesn't mean I should't do both of those here.
Blattid
Pudgie craft resemble jelly fish and plankton; they twist and undulate as they carry out their inner processes. [Forgot that I used to call them Pudgies. I like that; maybe still use as a nickname]
The Good
All brushed blue steel with no apparent seems or openings. Otherwise described mostly through actions than details.
Pets
Ornate, large with large parts wedged together like scraps on a magnet. But lovingly detailed with an art nouveau feel. Dark, staid, almost plush.
Trifids
Vanguards
The vanguards look damn near like almonds. They have a woody webbing covering dun cores; they taper to a rough point from a larger, rounded body. They have no apparent sensors or drive system. The spores bursts from between the webbing, likely from sotres on the underside of the webbing.
They're blazingly fast and flicker between sub- and super-light speeds when travelling or agitated.
The spores are cast out around the vanguard in a cloud: They are not "shot". But since the vanguards travel so fast, the can puff out a cloud of spores right before they pass some other heavenly body and effectively pelt it with devastatingly corrosive pellets that carry the moment of near-c mementum inside them.
