Yeah, that's very pretentious and banal at the same time, so I'll need to replace it, but I do like the C riff. It works well for carnivores.
The basic idea is a planet the Humans jumped to because they knew it was not only habitable, but likely densely inhabitted. And had done some preliminary jumps in to get data up to about a million years ago, but did expect there to be (pre-superluminary) intelligent life.
And they're really kinda sweet. They agreed to fight with us without really questioning what we said. they are honest and expect it in return. (No, their's is not some innocence lost thing---well, not entirely---but they do present honestly to their social systems.)
And I'm thinking they're not allergic to Buzzkills. So they can be there in case things like Blinkerblasters start popping up.
Maybe like Amphicyonids.
