You have O.G.R.E.s, and I will never match them. But I'll have urchins. Yeah, in part because of how they bristle.
- Artilery/point defense
- They have planetary range
- A large quantity of sizable mass weapons
- If given time to deploy, will also send out orbital & high-atmosphere support
- That recon and can engage a bit
- But are mostly reflectors to let the Urchin have planetary range of energy weapons
- But are also well armored and defended by "short-range" (i.e., horizon-bound) weaponry
- Not extremely mobile, but certainly can move well enough. Like tanks, really.
- They have planetary range
- Also called Urchins because of their durability.
- They often look very scruffy since they tend to be deployed long-term in the field
- And are self-sufficient enough that--in a war situation--they tend to be under-supported by other forces
- And so have a reputation for making do and holding their own
- And so do try to rely on their (more easily replenished) energy weaponry than their mass weaponry
- And so those high-air suport thingies are precious to the Urchin
- And so I gotta think of a cool animal name/anaolgy/inpsirtational sourse for them
- And so those high-air suport thingies are precious to the Urchin
